The Eventful Weekend

So far this weekend has been rather eventful. We closed on our home in Millville on Friday, and then headed to Cedar City, through a snowstorm so we could be here for my Grandma Mathesons funeral. After a fight with Multiple Myloma she stopped treatment 2 weeks ago and last Wednesday passed away. In so many ways it was a blessing, especially since she has lived a good life and has been suffering patiently for several years. While I will miss her -and her amazing cooking-I am so grateful that I know I will see her again.

On a side note, as we are about to move - again (21st time for me) - I became very jealous of my Grandma. One of the speakers was my Grandpa's best friend growing up who married Grandma's best friend and them they moved just down the street. And their friendship has endured for 61 years. I can't imagine what that would be like, to live down the street from you and your husband's best friend for that long. What fun they had! My Grandmother was an amazing woman who was a wonderful example of womanhood. She helped Grandpa on the dairy, raised 4 great daughters and a wonderful son, loved to shop, garden, quilt (not pieced justfreedesign with a needle and thread, and best of all was her food. She loved to cook and food was one of the ways she showed her love, and she loved us a lot! She also learned how to cook gluten-free when there was nothing to eat and no one to help. She was a wonderful support toy Grandfather in everything he pursued and always wore a smile. She NEVER gossiped and always looked on the bright side of things. I am grateful to be her granddaughter and proud of the legacy she has left me along with the other 125 some odd posterity she left behind.

We have a house

We found a house in Albuquerque this weekend.  We are so excited.  It has 4 bedrooms, a family room, room to garden in the back yard and best of all, an unfinished room in the basement (the only house we looked at with a basement) that we can use for storage. Take a look! We move in around the 28th, if not sooner.
