Girl's Room Redo

As you can see the girl's room was pretty boring and basic. 

 The big challenge was finding a way to decorate that was both 11yr old fun and 5-yr old fun.  Thank you to the Duffins who bought our house in Millville.  Last summer we got to have a tour of what they had done to our house and I could have cried with how beautiful they made it.  But their teenage daughter had these polka dot walls that turned out to be just what we were looking for.  So off to Home Depot we went and found 5 favorite colors that matched the bed spreads Grandma Eames made and we got polka dot walls.  The only hiccup was finding a second canopy like Karissa's which turned out to be impossible so we just made one.  Then Alexis decided we should have butterflies on the wall as well so we cut various shapes of vinyl butterflies and stuck them to the wall.

Fall

We don't have a lot of trees with leaves so we have to make do with what we have.  This was last fall, I just wish Spencer hadn't been asleep.

Family Fight Night

One thing our family loves to do is shoot Nerf guns.  It just so happens that so do several of our friends.  So we decided that instead of Family Home Evening (Family Night) we would host a Family Fight Night and everyone would come and we would have a dart gun war.  It was a lot of fun.  I didn't get a lot of pictures since we were too busy shooting, but here is a sample of the fun we had.

When Santa Came to Visit

Right before last Christmas Santa came to our house to visit.  The kids got a real kick out of it.  Thankfully, Andrew finally revealed what he wanted for Christmas.  We were worried Spencer may not like Santa, but he loved being on his lap and talking to him.

Redecorating

This is our Living Room right before we moved in:

If you can't tell, those are lace curtains, they were "lovely" and the first to go!

 Then we bought some new LR furniture to replace the hand-me-downs we had in Utah & Nashville and got new curtains.

Love my chair! 

Got to love white carpet under the dining room table.  We tried a rug, 
but that was kind of pointless. 

Better, but still blah and the chandelier left much to be desired. 

So, after consideration of all the options we decided to redo, everything.  New floor, paint, molding, etc.  All the molding in our home is wood and so to match the chair and crown molding Brandon refinished it.  Such a great man!  Then after searching Craigslist we found a great chandelier and then I got a china hutch to place my china in since this house didn't come with a built-in china hutch like our home in Millville.  And voile, we had a fantastic room. 

Still need a rug for the floor (room is a little too brown) in front of couch and possibly a coffee table (Brandon is going to make), but, otherwise, we love it!  It is my favorite room in the house!

We've also redone the kids rooms, a bathroom, and our landing at the top of the stairs.  Pictures forthcoming.

What's next??????

Andrew was in the hospital over the weekend for a "fever of unknown origin."  Basically, he had a horrible headache (writhing on the ground) and a fever of 104.7 a stomach ache and a rash.  They thought he had meningitis so we went to the local Children's hospital.  Thankfully, that wasn't the problem, but after an incalculable number (I'm sure the hospital kept count) of tests and 3 days in the hospital he was released and is perfectly fine except for being a little tired.

Two weeks before, Spencer was diagnosed with Cold Urticaria (allergy to the cold) and went into anaphylactic shock after eating orange juice and yogurt from the fridge.  Let me tell you, that was fun.  He is fine now and we just microwave everything from the fridge for 7 seconds and limit his ice cream intake - as in telling him it is yucky.


Oh, yes, forgot to mention, in the middle of these two health issues, I got called as the Relief Society Pres.  I am excited, but right now I need a little less excitement.

I realize I keep only posting about health issues so I am determined to post about the other goings on in our lives in the next little bit.  Really we have more interesting things going on, so keep a look out.
